December 16th, 2003 - Tuesday Visits My sister Amanda decided that it had been far too long since she had last seen us (not since Thanksgiving back in October!). Since she isn't starting her new job until January, she decided to take advantage of her free time and she came out and spent the day with us. It was nice since it was the first time she ever drove out here all by herself. I had fun. We didn't really do anything out of the ordinary because there was too much snow to take the stroller out and I don't think I could fit my own winter coat and Hayley's snowsuit under the sling, so we had lunch, watched our soap opera while Hayley napped, I baked, and we played with the rats while I cleaned their cage. I made supper and Amanda stayed to get splashed by Hayley's bath and then she left when Hayley was ready for bed. I enjoyed it. I hope she comes again before she has to start working. One thing we did while she was here was to go out in the snow since it wasn't as cold today as it has been the past few days. Hayley is getting used to maneuvering in her snowsuit now so she walked really well outside as long as she held my hand. She seemed to enjoy herself.
While I was getting supper ready, Hayley started pulling stuff out of the cupboard and got a little confused. If I have to take her diaper off before her bath is ready, I pull out the potty seat that we got from someone and I sit her on it. It's not that I'm honestly expecting to train such a young toddler to use the potty at this point, but more than once (many, MANY times, actually!) she has peed on the bath mat while waiting for the tub to fill so I figure if I put her on the potty, at least it will go somewhere appropriate. So tonight when she was rummaging through the kitchen cupboards, she found our old kettle and decided that it must be a potty.
What a lunatic. After her bath she was very cranky because of those stupid teeth that are taking forever to come in and because she was tired. She really just wanted her milk and wanted to go to bed but she had to be dried, dressed, have her hair dried, take her Tylenol, and have her teeth brushed. Whew. At least she perked up long enough to give Amanda a cheerful good bye.
She's sleeping now but she already woke up twice and was moaning in her sleep. I have a bad feeling that it's going to be a rough night and someone is coming at 9:30 tomorrow morning so I think I should head towards getting myself ready for bed so that I can get all the sleep I can get before she wakes up. Some very nice people sent me in questions as I had requested. Please feel free to ask me some too if you haven't already and I'll start answering some tomorrow. ![]() ![]() << - Journal index - >>
